These are images that I used in my 2018 exhibition at the Railway Street Studios as part of the OutThere Collective on the theme of Solitude. I interpreted the theme as musicians alone in their own thoughts during a live performance. Solitude in the midst of an adoring crowd. Jimmy Barnes is a big deal in New Zealand and Australia, though i admit to being aware of his work. From the ten minutes i saw of his show, i was impressed though! Photos were shot for Getty Images. you can see them here
I had great fun photoing Makeshift Parachutes last weekend. They are a band i’ve known about for a while but never actually seen live, or photographed, until now. I have to say they were amazing live and you should definitely go and see them if you get a chance. They have such an enthusiastic set of followers too. Definitely one of the highlights of my year so far! Support was from Smokestack Slim and Dual
I really enjoy local band Dual and it was great to photo them again recently when they were supporting Makeshift Parachutes recently. They are another band you should check out!

Royal Blood were as amazing as you’d hope they would be when they played at Auckland’s Logan Campbell Centre last week. I was lucky enough to be there to take photos for Getty. You can see the full set here
I’ve only ever seen Dictaphone Blues as a solo affair so it was great to see the full band version. So many talented musicians in one tiny stage. There was a great vibe and a friendly crowd. After photoing Model Train Wreck I whizzed in to town to catch the end of Two Cartoons who were supporting Dictaphone Blues at Panhead Viaduct. If you’ve not come across this band i highly recommend you check them out. Lots of fun and great tunes This set of images is also available over at UnderTheRadar
I got to catch the beginning of Model Train Wreck’s excellent set on Friday night at the Cupid Bar in Pt Chev, Auckland. They are a fun band with great songs and really worth checking out. I always like to research the bands i’m going to be photoing and i discovered an earlier album of theirs on Spotify which really enjoyed. I love recognising music while photoing a band so i was delighted they played some tracks from that album at […]
